Progress

I feel like I have progressed through this unit easier and with fewer mistakes than last unit. I am able to graph fairly well and I usually understand how to find amplitude, horizontal shift, etc. The only thing that sometimes gave me trouble was finding the period or "b" value. Sometimes I got them mixed up and in the beginning of the unit, I wasn't fully comprehending the math behind finding each one, I just looked at my notes for help. However, looking at my notes so much helped me remember how to find each one eventually  The same goes with graphing tangent and cotangent. I sometimes forgot what each looked like and how to graph them, but with the help of my notes, I remembered and understood the math behind them so I actually knew why the graphs looked the way they did. After the first couple of problems, I was able to easily complete the graphing questions or find an equation (especially since I have started to slow down while working).

I also really appreciate the Ferris Wheel project. The very first Ferris Wheel problem that we did, I didn't totally understand it, but with this project we had to go into more depth with each step and find more. Like finding the height of the starting point, I found it by looking at t=0 but Mr. Jackson showed me a more interesting and mathematical way of finding it using other trig functions. With the extra explanation of each aspect of the graph, it really helped me understand graphing more. It helped just like the D.E.V. project from last tri except it was about this individual unit and prepared me for one test. If you can't say in words how you found what you did and what it means, you obviously don't understand it so projects like these really help me before tests. Which is why I really liked the D.E.V. project because it was a wonderful review.

Overall, I feel like this unit went well and I sometimes enjoyed the problems. I had a few misunderstandings, but who doesn't? With the homework problems and Ferris Wheel project, I feel comfortable about the test.
