If I were to describe how this unit went for me in as little words as possible, I would say this: "Caught off guard". I assumed that simply graphing these functions would be much easier than everything we did with them in the last unit, and at first it was, but when we added tangent, cotangent, secant and cosecant it got a little more hazy for me, and then it became even more difficult when including application problems. For whatever reason, translating real life scenarios into a mathematical equation gets lost on me. If I had to hypothesize as to why this is, I would say that in the pure numerical problems, a pattern is formed with things such as the horizontal shift and the b-value, but rarely are those patterns going to carry over to real life. Combine this with the ever-increasing stress over moving houses(all moved in now, by the way. Everything went okay and without too many hitches, if you're interested), and you have a few weeks of pure struggle. Even after all this, however, I must say it feels really good to be challenged in a math class for once. Here's to a great last month!
